Sour Patch Kids . . .

Brandi sent this movie over today of Landon getting his first taste of Sour Patch Kids candy.

Looks like they grew on him after a bit, though.

About 2pm some more of my relatives, my 2nd cousin’s Anna Jean and Marjorie, and Marjorie’s husband Walter came to visit. They are my Grandmother’s sister’s daughters, so I think that makes them my 2nd cousins.

Anna Jean and Marjorie keep up with everything about everybody in the family so we always enjoy talking to them to catch up. In fact we spent over two hours talking and laughing. And to make it even better, they brought CAKE!  You just can’t beat guests like that.

After saying our goodbyes until next year, Jan and I headed out a little after 5pm for dinner. We both had a hamburger hankerin’, but the nearest Five Guys was about 30 minutes away. So we ended up at a nearby Wendy’s. I had seen their ad for the new Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger and wanted to try it.

The burger itself was delicious, but I was a little disappointed in the Pretzel bun. But that could be just my over-expectations, since I’ve never had one before. The taste was really good, but I guess I was expecting the bun to have a little bite or crunch. But that may be just me. I’ll have to try someone else’s to see. Dunkin Donuts has them too.

Yesterday coming back from dinner I stopped off to put gas in the truck, and once again I wondered about gas prices. All along the street were stations, Shell, BP, Exxon, etc., with unleaded at $3.39, and then right in the middle of them is Wal-Mart at $3.21. That’s an .18 a gallon difference! Why go anywhere else?

  1. Heehee…got hubby and me to laughing watching your grandson!! You can tell he surely wanted to spit it out…but he must be a polite kid!!

So nice you have great kin to have fun with!! For some, that list is mighty short…well, if you tack on the “having fun with them” part. I have a few…but not many. We are planning to make a trip down to California ere long to see a couple of them. I do look forward to it!!

  2. Elizabeth,

Yeah, we’re really looking forward to spending some time with Landon.

As far as kin, I guess it really bodes well for me that I have some many relatives still alive and kicking in their 80’s and 90’s.

And my father lived to be 83 and my mother died at 88, and she died from a post-op infection.

    Hope it’s genetic.

  3. He’s Grandpa’s boy all the way!

  4. I always got a kick out the fuel stations opposite each other & different prices. Some signifacantly higher than the other and a car filling up at the higher one. I always wonder why they are there. I guess it’s what charge card they have.

  5. Okay, nobody cares, but here it is anyway. Anna Jean & Marjorie are 1st cousins with one of your parents. You are 2nd cousins with AJ’s and M’s children. So what are you to AJ & M? You are 1st cousins, once removed because you are one generation down (removed) from them in the lineage of your grandparents. Brandon would be 1st cousins, thrice removed to them. I am sure we are all cousins somehow with the Queen of England. 🙂

  6. Had my first pretzel bun in Chicago this spring. Just a little bit of crunch, and I liked the salty taste.

  7. Tricia,

    Thanks for the correction.

    I knew 2nd cousins probably wasn’t right.

  8. George,

    Maybe that’s the problem.

Mind had NO crunch and NO salt on top.

I’ll have to try another place.
